Fari Uthuru is an anti-littering campaign that aims to raise awareness about reducing plastic pollution and improving plastic waste management in Kulhudhuffushi City.

The campaign launched in May 2024 under the Maldives Authentic Crafts Cooperative Society (MACCS) project “Improving the wellbeing of HDh Kulhudhuffushi people and ocean through plastic pollution prevention”, granted under the Plastic Free Rivers and Seas for South Asia (PLEASE project) implemented by South Asia Co-operative Environment Programme (SACEP) and supported by UNOPS  and World Bank. 

Generating behavioural change in waste segregation practices.

Increasing awareness of alternatives to Single Use Plastics.

Collaborating with local businesses to reduce distribution of Single Use Plastics.

Increasing awareness on recycling and upcycle to reduce waste generation.
